Correction: US-San Diego-Mosque Shooting story
In an Aug. 31, 2026, story about a North Carolina teen being charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting at a San Diego mosque, The Associated Press erroneously reported the gunmen also planned to attack a predominantly Black high school, based on a statement made by Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill. The San Diego Police Department said the gunmen planned to target Black students at a high school that is not predominantly Black.
